What do homeowners ask about Chimney Sweep?
How much does a chimney sweep cost in San Diego?
Our standard sweep with a Level 1 inspection runs $189 for a single open masonry fireplace. Prefab fireplaces, second flues, and stoves are quoted separately. Glazed Stage 2 or Stage 3 creosote needs rotary chain or chemical removal and is quoted before we start the work.
How often should a chimney be swept?
The CSIA recommends an annual inspection for any chimney that vents a fireplace or stove. Cleaning depends on use: most San Diego homes that burn 1–2 cords a year need a full sweep every 1–2 seasons. Heavy users or anyone burning soft, wet, or green wood need it every season.
Will it make a mess in my house?
No. We seal the firebox opening with plastic and run a HEPA vacuum at the firebox during the entire sweep. Most clients tell us afterwards they cannot tell we were in the room. We also wear shoe covers and bring our own drop cloths.
Do you sweep prefab and gas fireplaces too?
Yes. Prefab (zero-clearance) fireplaces still need annual inspection and cleaning of the firebox, smoke chamber, and flue. Gas fireplaces need a different inspection focused on the burner, logs, valves, and venting — we offer that as a separate service.
What's in the camera scan?
After the sweep, we send a high-resolution color camera up the flue and record the full length top to bottom. You see exactly what we see — cracked tiles, gaps in mortar joints, missing liner sections, animal nests. Saved for your records.

Homeowners who hired us for this
Bought our 1980s house with no service history on the fireplace. Their camera scan found a cracked clay tile we never would have spotted. Sweep was dust-free — couldn't tell they'd been in our living room. Written report in my inbox the next morning.
Called for a leak that two roofers had blamed on the roof. Their tech ran a hose test and showed me it was the crown — pictures and everything. Crown rebuild stopped the leak the same week. Honest work and clear pricing.
Raccoons in the chimney for two seasons. Other companies wanted to sell me a full inspection package first. Draft Pro came out, installed a stainless cap with proper mesh, and the noises stopped that night. Fair price.
